Systems of Stability
THE SYSTEM is often blamed for many failed expectations
of life in our society. Just what the system is can be nebulous in and
of itself. There are many institutions of civilization, and while all of
them have a function to perform, a benefit to bring humanity, few of them
are thought to live up to their goals, if those goals can even be remembered.
It occurs to me that every lasting institution that is introduced to
humanity endures because of one common benefit it can reap: It can
greater stabilize Life. Life is delicate and perishable,
primarily because of its dependance on food and protection.
There are several systems which humanity has adopted to greater
stabilize an assurance of life:
- Law
- to better assure that food, shelter, and other wealth are
not subject to theft, human destructiveness, or other
'unjust' creation of scarcity.
- Market
- to reduce scarcity by incentivizing labor and exchange.
- Religion
- to foster values which inspire a service to community,
or vigilance against threat of suffering or perishing.
- Education
- to share an understanding of the elements by which define
work skills,
- Lingual Communication
- or indeed communication of any sort. But
Lingual Communication in its ability to convey
experiences of even the most abstract nature, to
share models both factual and fictional, and to thus
test the consequences (of premeditated deeds) upon
human understanding.
